Shrimp Season Opens this Friday

Here's what you need to know :

  • WHEN: South Carolina’s 2007 shrimp baiting season begins Friday. The season is 60 days long and ends Nov. 12.
  • COST: Licenses for residents cost $25. Nonresidents pay $500.
  • LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Licenses are not required for those using cast nets from shore without bait. Licenses are available at local outfitters and bait shops, or go to www.dnr.sc.gov.
  • LIMITS: The catch limit is 48 quarts of shrimp measured heads-on (29 quarts heads-off) per boat or set of poles per day. Each boat is limited to 10 poles.
